Cross-Regional Collaboration for Scalable Algae Farming Solutions
Algae is one of nature’s most powerful tools in the fight against climate change—and we are at the forefront of unlocking its potential. Our algae cultivation development is more than an agricultural initiative; it is a collaborative, cross-disciplinary effort to restore marine health, absorb carbon, and create future-proof food and material sources for the planet.
We are currently working in partnership with experts from The University of Hong Kong (HKU), local researchers, and seasoned algae farmers in Taiwan to study, test, and refine algae farming systems that are resilient, productive, and environmentally regenerative. This collaboration bridges academic research, technical know-how, and field-tested farming practices to create a robust foundation for algae innovation.
Ocean Grows is not only focused on maximizing the productivity of algae farming; we are also deeply committed to ensuring its integration into existing marine environments. Rather than replacing natural habitats, our cultivation rafts and structures are designed to complement and restore them—helping to stabilize shorelines, reduce ocean acidity, and provide breeding grounds for marine life. Our fieldwork includes reactivating idle fish rafts and transforming them into living algae farms, repurposing unused infrastructure for a new generation of sustainable aquaculture.
A key component of our algae development initiative is the incorporation of smart monitoring systems. In collaboration with our university partners, we are integrating IoT sensors and cloud-based analytics into algae farming platforms to collect real-time data on water quality, CO₂ absorption, growth rates, and environmental health. These systems provide valuable insights into ecosystem changes and help inform more efficient, adaptive farming strategies.
